Yet again, the rulers of Israel assure us that they will not hesitate to destroy homes which may be providing refuge to unarmed civilians and young children and babies, thereby reminding us of the atrocities they perpetuated during their aggression on Lebanon in the summer of 2006 and many times before then. These threats come as a desperate attempt to score a virtual victory against resistance activities in Lebanon and an attempt (albeit doomed for failure) for revenge against all the defeats which their armies of destruction suffered from 1982 and until now.

Israeli espionage cells are being exposed and are collapsing within Lebanon, with ramifications indicating that Israel may be involved in the execution and cover up of many of the assassination crimes and explosion which have occurred in Lebanon since 2005. Simultaneously, a number of Israeli ministers and generals are "predicting" that Lebanon may find itself yet again on the verge of a "civil war" – even specifying a date for the beginning of the break out of hostilities by making a direct link with the launching of the international tribunal which is due to investigate the assassination of the late Prime Minister of Lebanon Rafiq Hariri. Against the above background, the Israeli Netanyahu-Liberman-Ashkenazi government continues to cause severe tensions along the demarcation line with Lebanon through a series of aggressive and provocative measures including the kidnapping of unarmed civilians, military maneuvers, and violation of Lebanese airspace and Lebanese territorial waters. More recently, it announces that it has just completed the "iron-dome" project for the protection of its airspace and that it will receive tens of modern American military aircrafts.

The most unfortunate in all the above developments, is the ostrich-like political posturing by the United Nations and some countries within the EU, at a time when the United Nations UNIFIL military forces in the South of Lebanon are exerting themselves trying to "creatively" explain the UN resolution 1701 and its contents in favor of the oppressor and the occupier (Israel) and against the oppressed (Lebanon). This UN / EU position, unfortunately, is not a new one in its opposition to the Arab People and their just causes. Indeed as is evident in the ongoing suffering of the Palestinian people through embargos, assassination attempts, mass displacement and ethnic cleansing, armed settlement on occupied land and forcefully turning many cities and particularly Jerusalem into a "Purely" Jewish city. This UN / EU prejudice is also evident in their silence regarding the atrocities which have been perpetuated and which continue to be perpetuated against the Lebanese People.

We view the ongoing Israeli violations on our airspace, water and land; together with the ongoing unconditional American support provided to the Netanyahu-Lieberman-Ashkenazi government as a clear signal that war against our country is back on the agenda. This is particularly alarming, in view of reports currently being circulated in certain "media centers" and "strategic research centers" regarding "scenarios" prepared within official circles of the US State Department which refer to the "Third Lebanon War".

Therefore, we call on all leftist, progressive, working-class, democratic and communist forces throughout the world to express their solidarity with the Lebanese people in all forms and through the widest possible solidarity campaigns. We hope that such a campaign will force Israel, the US and NATO to move back from executing their new destructive war project. We also call on all working class and communist Euro-Mediterranean parties to prepare for a meeting in the near future to coordinate all activities and movements; especially activities aiming at preventing the US from allowing Israel to use any US and NATO bases in our region in an attack against our country and our people.
