Dear Comrades in the leadership of the Chilean Communist Party,

We received with great sorrow the unfortunate news regarding the passing away of comrade Luis Alberto Corvalán Lepe, the great leader of your party, who was renown in the international communist, democratic and progressive movement throughout the world.

The name of comrade Corvalán was closely associated, as was the Chilean Communist Party, with the struggle that your party was immersed in, over tens of years, against the fascist movement represented by the Pinochet dictatorship, which was in turn supported by the USA.  The late comrade suffered together with his people and his party, moving in-between underground work, prison and exile.  In all stages of his life he was an exemplary brave leader and modest militant.

By his departure, the communist movement and the international workers movement has lost one of its pillars which will forever act as a beacon guiding those militants struggling for the humanity of mankind.

Dear Comrades,

In the name of Lebanese Communists, we would like to offer our innermost and sincerest condolences to your party and to the Chilean people.  We assure you that comrade Corvalán will remain alive in the conscience and psyche of all Lebanese militants as an exemplary figure to be followed.
